The Kittitas County Republican Party Chair Matthew Manweller wrote a column in the Ellensburg Daily Record calling members of Congress corrupt and using that as a reason to vote against requiring the federal government bargaininging for lower drug costs.
You can read his argument here:

Here’s my response:
Dear Editor,
I appreciate Matthew Manweller pointing out that Representative Doc Hastings and other congress members are too corrupt to bargain with drug companies for lower prices (in his latest editorial). I am surprised that the chair of the Kittitas County Republican Party would imply that Hastings is corrupt but I do applaud his candor.
However, Manweller used this corruption to argue against requiring our federal government to bargain for lower drug prices. Why don’t we just get rid of corrupt politicians like Doc Hastings instead of living with skyrocketing prescription drug costs?

You are right on.
Dear Sir,
You know that is NOT what I said in my editorial. You are purposefully setting up a straw man to knock it down. A cheap shot and you know it. My article was about the Chicago School theories of “government capture” which has been validated by scholars on the right and left. You can do better than this crap.
Matt
