What a bizarre strategy. Luke Esser plans to ‘de-link’ the Washington State Republican Party from the Bush/Cheney administration.
In Sunday’s Herald-Republic, AP writer Dave Ammons wrote, “Campaign pros and GOP legislative leaders say Esser and the fresh new look at the state party are a shot in the arm for a party that hasn’t had much good news in a long time.
“He can help ‘de-link’ state candidates from the national scene that was so damaging last year, said Senate Republic Leader Mike Hewitt.”
As they join the stampede away from Bush/Cheney, let’s hope Esser and Hewitt can lure the majority of Yakima County voters in the same direction. That would place them with us centrists who are trying hard to make our government work for the benefit of all Americans, especially the middle class.
