We pay less in taxes than most other states…

35 other state’s residents pay more in taxes than we do here in Washington, according to a new study by the Washington State Budget And Policy Center.

They do point out that for people who are struggling it may feel like more because people who make less pay a higher percentage of taxes.

From the report: This strong imbalance in the system likely feeds the widespread public perception that taxes in Washington State are high and growing larger,” the report notes. “…Because of the deep regressivity of the current system, it is undeniable that many individual families, particularly at lower and middle-income levels, are paying more in state and local taxes than they can easily afford.”

Here’s an idea for Rossi’s idea bank: Stop taxing poor people at a higher rate than rich people.
