Ok…let’s start this post with a quote:
“It’s a little too easy to raise taxes right now,” Honeyford said, adding that he’d like to see the state prioritize its spending without blindly cutting things that would affect local law enforcement and other agencies.
It’s from a Yakima Herald article about Tim Eyman’s (the watch salesman) initiative 960 which would hamstring every level of government in Washington State.
It’s another Republican urging fiscal restraint and cautioning all of us about not letting government get out of hand. It’s said during a period when a Republican president is running up the largest deficits in the history of our country.
I mean even if the Governor was running up record deficits and raising taxes willy-nilly, she could never reap the kind of irreparable harm that the Republicans are making at a federal level. By the way, the Governor has balanced the state budget and put millions into a rainy day fund.
How are we ever going to pay the federal debt off? And, how come we never hear any of our local Republicans go off on the President? He’s the one with a SERIOUS spending problem.
The Republican Party has that “do as I say, not as I do” problem. It’s like watching someone say there are too many people with alcohol problems while they are chugging down a fifth of Jack Daniels. It starts to defy comprehension.
