Yakima City Councilmembers Micah Cawley and Bill Lover were interviewed on a Skip Schoff program on CBY and aired on Christmas night. The three of them were in lockstep with distorted and disjointed conversation! Where to begin?
Skip Schoff seemed alarmed that a non-partisan pro choice organization named NARAL endorsed my city council campaign. Even Benine McDonnell, a Pro-Choice Republican Party activist is on NARAL’s mailing list and has donated to them! (Benine, who is in my Kiwanis Club, confided this information to me personally).
Both Cawley and Lover are in full damage control mode with their friend, Rick Ensey. They are making an attempt to spin Ensey’s horrible lack of ethics and judgment by saying “there is more to the story” on the blogging issue. Well let’s hear it, I’m all ears!! The fact is Ensey is hiding behind his lawyers. Does the “rest of the story” mean their mean spirited and certainly unChristian blog would have continued if they hadn’t been discovered?
Both councilmembers also went to great lengths to defend their hero (and Skip Schoff’s hero), Tim Eyman, concerning his removal from a recent city council meeting. First amendment rights! Freedom of speech! They protest! And yet we hear them rail against the Yakima Herald for publishing letters to the editor from citizens who want to exercise their rights! They agree with Eyman’s “witch hunt” remarks because the overwhelming majority of letters to the editor lambaste Ensey’s values. What hypocrisy! Christian values? I think not.
They consider the infamous blog as being “not that big a deal”. This is just politics, they crow! Clearly acceptable! Even their own Republican Party unendorsed Ensey in a poorly written op-ed by their chair, Jim Keightly.
Lover & Cawley claim the city spends too much, yet while serving on the budget committee have never recommended one single reduction to the city council. They say they are “identifying” budget cuts but show no courage to recommend any. They sound very much like their new friend Rick Ensey, who claims to have ideas but somehow has never let anyone know what they are! What a trio! Unfortunately for the City of Yakima, these three only need one more vote to drag us down to their level.
I’ve known many conservatives and many of my friends like to consider themselves conservative but Bill Lover, Micah Cawley, Rick Ensey, & Skip Schoff are giving conservatives a bad name with their hypocritical, judgmental, and spinning of facts rhetoric. They need to be held accountable!
