“West Side” bails us out again!!

Levy’s throughout the Yakima Valley passed with the simple majority thanks to the West of the Cascades voters who, last November, offset the Yakima County negative vote on removing the supermajority rule. It’s a good thing that Yakima voters didn’t get their way in November! Things like improved schools & better roads add to our quality of life and help attract new businesses, furthering our economic development, which all political office holders will tell you that they support. Those investments require things like levies and gas taxes, which makes many of our elected leaders slink down in their seats and squirm around while they whine and wail that the legislature should provide all our needs. But many of our shortsighted and timid elected office holders vote against these investments for our future knowing full well that the “West side” will bail us out, making us a stronger community. They can then pander to the voters and tell them they are against taxes! So far it has worked well for them. But this mentality will ultimately fail. We have seen their “values”!
