Letters to editor that matter

The following letter to the editor in the Monday, April 21st edition of the Yakima Herald answers the narrow minded, self serving agenda of a previous letter (obviously, Republican voter). No more needs to be said as you read on:

Donate, Bush voters

To the editor — I read Carolyn I. Harris’ April 11 letter to the editor, “Donations instead of taxes.” Ms. Harris would like the Democrats, should they win the presidential election, to contribute to their socialistic agenda, and not bother those who do not buy into that agenda.

I think it is quite a good idea, and would like to suggest that the plan be retroactive to 2001, when President Bush took office. I would like for everyone who voted for President Bush to donate sufficient funds to cover the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as the domestic programs such as the Transportation Security Administration and wiretapping of U.S. citizens that some of the rest of us did not buy into.

And since it never hurts to ask, I would like my son returned from Iraq, after his second tour of duty, with his mind and all of his body parts.

PAT REYNOLDS
