The State Senate released their budget which raises no new tax revenues.
Here’s some of the more alarming cuts:
1) Gutting the Initiative 728 funding (reducing class size) by 93%
2) 60% of the Basic Health Plan (which covers low income families and children with health care)
3) 20% of the General Assistance to the Unemployable
4) Complete closure of the Yakima Valley School
5) Closing the McNeil Island Corrections Center
6) Closing of the Green Hill School in Centralia (a juvenile rehabilitation center)
7) It’s hard to say for sure…but I think they are ending the mailing of voter pamphlets..I’ll check on that.
Suspend the Washington State Film Office for two fiscal years.
On the plus side, we are going to get 5 new liquor stores! We may all need a drink.
