Rick Ensey’s about face about seeking a legal opinion from the City Attorney illustrates once again his arrogance toward the public. He’s dragging down Bill Lover, Micah Cawley and Kathy Coffey with him. This from Friday’s (April 17, 2009) Yakima Herald :
Bonlender based his accusation on published comments made by Ensey, who said he engineered the vote after speaking individually in the past few weeks to fellow council members Micah Cawley, Kathy Coffey and Bill Lover.
“In my opinion, that’s the same thing as being in a smoke-filled room,” Bonlender said Thursday.
And this in today’s (April 18, 2009) Yakima Herald:
“There’s nothing that was done here that could even have a hint of breaking the open-meeting law,” he said. (Ensey)
The Public Meetings Act requires that meetings of public governing bodies be open. The law applies not only to votes but also discussions and deliberations leading up to votes.
Now Cawley, Lover and Coffey have to help keep the Spin Machine from getting sucked into a black hole. Their actions and their comments bear watching very closely. Ah, how they so NOT reflect the values of our community!
