As the wheel turns

And now the plot thickens. Bruce Smith, and his 4 Yakima City Council puppets, have failed the people of Yakima miserably with their behind the scenes effort for control. It would be one thing if they were actually working on behalf of the citizens, but that is clearly NOT the case. This small group and their apologists (known as right wing radio and a small and shadowy cadre of Yakima businessmen with ties to B.S.) are motivated by their desire to dump the city manager and create a strong mayor government that THEY can control. All in the name of transparency and openness! What a Croc!
They are hanging their hat on school book terminology like ‘Priorities of Government’. They plan on hiding behind this phrase to control a budget that they don’t understand and have zero competency to fulfill. They have wasted valuable staff time and resources and are grinding the government that they lead to a halt.
The election process can eliminate Cawley and Lover this November and that certainly would be a positive step for the voters. Add a defeat of right wing talk show host, Dave Ettl and this city can move forward, even with the dead weight of the diminutive Rick Ensey to drag around for 2 more years.
It’s too bad that through all this we had to lose a good council member in Neil McClure. His departure has shined a bright spotlight on this Bruce Smith manipulated city council. Let’s all end this era of B.S. governance and take our city back!

We don’t agree on much, but on the issue of Smith, you are on the money.

Irony: Would you not think that the owner of a newspaper might be sophisticated enough to know that communicating with elected officials via their public e-mail would render said e-mails a public record and subject to public review. Here’s another school book term – transparency in government. The self appointed champs of transparency got their clocks cleaned, and the public paid for it – $2,500!

I think Bruce should pay the bill -as it is apparent he was running the show, along with a number of Council members.

Why would anyone let this fellow run anything for them.
