Lots to catch up on!!

Seems like it’s been a month that our progressive blog, The Other Side Online has been down. After several days of withdrawal pains it feels great to be up and running again, even in skeletal mode. So where do we start to get caught up? How about some general observations about the Yakima City Council’s attempt to save face after their recent debacle.
Council member Kathy Coffey separated herself from the Bruce Smith led disastrous attempt at controlling votes on the Council. She did this with a heartfelt apology for some personal remarks about fellow council members and an apology to the people for her role in this high schoolish ideological power play. Should we believe her? I think we should and let’s accept her apology and find ways to move forward.
Not apologetic is the toxic Rick Ensey, who is clearly Bruce Smith’s mouthpiece. Any council member who attaches themselves to this empty suit contaminates them and will be carrying around his dead weight. It appears Ms Coffey has made a break and other comments from Micah Cawley seem to indicate he is looking for a safe haven within the council’s existing budgeting methods which actually do set priorities of government via policy issues requiring council votes.
I predict that the phony transparency of Ensey’s POG (priorities of government) model will be morphed in to the existing city budget process through the upcoming budget committee’s deliberations. More on the sophomoric and over simplistic and unrealistic process of the POG will come in subsequent blogs. In the meantime it feels great to be back online!
