Conservatives scramble to kill Health care reform

The conservatives are losers. They were licking their chops when Senators Lieberman and Nelson held out for modifications to the most important legislation in a generation. Now that the Senate is on the brink of passing major health care reform, the republicans are reaching into their gunny sack for all their negative responses. They have tried everything a minority party could to stall and kill reform. But it appears that their efforts have failed. Thank God! To them it was more about denying president Obama a victory than working for the Health Care reform that the American public badly needs.

Top Senate Republican, Mitch McConnell had this to say:
McConnell said the legislation “will have a profound impact on our nation. This is not renaming a post office. Make no mistake, this bill will reshape our nation and our lives.”

He’s right! This bill will reshape our nation and our lives by lowering overall health care costs for decades to come and offering security to millions of uninsured citizens. It will also reduce the budget deficit. And now the party of NO will be remembered for their partisan efforts to kill it. As McConnell says this is not simply renaming a Post Office. Too bad he and his conservative stick in the mud party didn’t spend their time working WITH the majority party on sweeping reform instead of wasting their time being negative and opposing reform. That kind of sums up the conservatives for you – No vision. Afraid of change. Seems like the only things they do like are some forms of religion, guns, and war.

    I can’t wait for my free shit…

You said that last time, try coming up with some new shit

    ya know?

  3. Eleanor says:

Neal can get “free” healthcare as in Medicare, Medicaid or Tricare, if he qualifies, without waiting. Immediately after the bill is signed, his health insurance company must provide him with better, more reliable coverage. Of course, it’s not free, but it shouldn’t cost more and it has to be portable. No waiting for that either.

“Free” was the George W. Bush way to buy stuff. Free wars, free Medicare Plan D, free tax cuts. Just don’t pay for anything and don’t ask Congress to cough up funding either. Tote it up: multi-trillion for war, over a trillion in Plan D, over a trillion in tax cuts. “Free” means borrowing, which means big deficits, which means low interest rates, which means no room for sensible monetary or fiscal policy when the economy falls off a cliff.

There is no free shit…we are ALL going to pay for this, with higher premiums, less coverage, rationing, this is a going to put our lives and health in the government’s hands and they will have control over every aspect of our lives with this monstrosity. The people that WE elected passed this bill (that no one has read, yet again)in the dark of night. Obama promised a clear and transparent government, and the health care negotiations would be on cspan, what happened to that? The majority of Americans are against this bill, our Congressmen and Senators just spit in our faces and told the American public that we aren’t as smart as they are, so shut up and let them do whatever they want to do.

I can’t wait for my free shit…that someone else will pay for..

Anybody know who it will be?

  6. Eleanor says:

Jason is right, Neal. Everything has a price. There may have been a time when you could pay your own medical costs out of pocket, without incurring expenses way beyond what you could save in a lifetime. Thanks to the cost of bio-technology, pharmacology and medical advances, those days are gone. All of us are going to need assistance, i.e. insurance, when it’s our turn to seek medical treatment.

  7. Jason says:

    Eleanor
I am glad you agree with me, or at least you acknowledge that I am right, everything DOES have a price…but the price we will pay for this democrat bill, that the senate just passed, is way too high a price to pay, not just financially, but our senators don’t seem to think we are a representative republic any more…they are acting as dictators, pushing their will on all of us. They violated senate rules, and ignored the people they are supposed to represent, we have a Constitution and they need to follow the limits that it puts on them, because if we throw out the Constitution, we will cease to be a free nation.

  8. blahblahblah says:

If by “modifications” you meant “as much pork as I can get for Nebraska” then ya, Nelson held out for modifications.

  9. blahblahblah says:

Why are our legislators and their staffs Excluded from this bill?

  10. Drew says:

Maybe you should call Hastings and ask. Don’t leave a message about what you are calling about, or he’s guaranteed to not return your call. Ya see, Dick Hastings likes his socialized medicine. He especially likes the fact that you are subsidizing his health care, and that it is not available to you. We should find out how many taxpayers from the 4th that are paying for Hasting’s health care, but are unable to afford their own.
