Bipartisanship – Republican style

Just days after President Obama’s acceptance of the House Republicans invitation to have a frank and open discussion/debate, their leader Rep John Boehner drew a line in the sand with this statement;

“There aren’t that many places where we can come together,” House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio said on the NBC program “Meet the Press.”
Republicans were elected to stand by their principles, and those principles are different than the “leftist proposals” offered by President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats, Boehner said.

President Obama reached out to the repubs and this is what he gets. The party of NO keeps complaining of nothing getting done while they deliberately obstruct any progress that may be made because it might be “liberal”! It’s time for the Democrats to stand up for the health care bill and make the republicans physically filibuster. Make them bring the country to a halt for their selfish and petty differences. Then we can all see their true traits and motivation: Obstructionist, demonizing, fear mongering, labeling, and NO to everything. (unless it’s a tax cut for those that don’t need it!).

    Amen, Ron. The Party of No is not interested in anything that’s “left of the Bush/Reagan agenda”, and we’ve seen how they managed to destroy our middle class. This GOP is more than willing to sacrifice the country to get their way.

    I’d like to read Boehner’s purple book that he laid on NBC this morning and which we saw him present to the president just as Obama took the podium.

    Boehner (who wants to be called “Bayner,”–and not “Boner”) kept saying, “…the president’s proposals are not centrist.” I cannot be certain what he meant by that. It is certainly not unusual for the mid-term elections to bring out the other party, but the Republicans keep acting as though the hand of God has bestowed eternal rightousness on them over four elections in the east.

    Obama has to be encouraged for his nerve and daring in telling the Republicans that they are constantly running for re-election. They are unquestionably NOT interested in the fate of the people, but more in making Democrats look bad, hoping they will look good in the offing. I cannot believe that smart voters will obstructionists in power. Of course, maybe I am overestimating the intellect of the voters.

    Unemployment will continue to run high, as long as Congress cannot agree on health care. No employer wants to take on more people as long as he/she does not know what is in store.

    The Republicans should be called out on the carpet and explain just what the hell are their principles and explain why they failed in the last 8 years to incorporate them into law, assuming of course they are legal! Boehner has no interest in negotiations for the good of the people. Notice how he uses the term “Leftist proposals” to brand anything put forth by anyone other than his party. Sloganeering is still popular to use in place of explaining in specifics why they disagree.

    Is there any chance your party will ever get in tune with AMERICA???

    No wonder you’ll lose in November…and the funny thing is…you all know it.

    please explain to me how the republicans have “obstructed” any progress, because from what I can tell… democrats had a filibuster proof senate and republicans were a shrinking party, with no power… democrats could have passed anything they wanted, since they had the votes…didn’t they?… maybe the “blue dog democrats” are the real obstructionists because THEY are the ones that prevented their own party from “making progress”. Democrats failed because they are not united, they do not agree with the “leftist proposals” that Oboma, Pelosi, and Reid are pushing. Republicans are not to blame…Obama’s leadership skills, and the far left are to blame for your party’s failures.
