A recent challenger to Sen. Patty Murray, former helmet tester for the NFL, Clint Didier (R) from Eltopia, which is translated as “hell to pay”, is recycling the GOP mantra and current teabagger protest theme of “gubmint is bad”.
In a recent article in the Tri-City Herald, Didier has stated how unimportant the Hanford vote is..”I’d like to see Hanford under the private sector,” he said. There are good people at Hanford ‘willing to work their tails off,’ but at government jobs they are not given the opportunity to work as hard as they could elsewhere, he said.”
Odd since he hasn’t checked that the majority of Hanford jobs are private. Perhaps someone took away his helmet during his Superbowl days.
Also Funny is how the Didier family forgot how much they fed at the gumbint teat while they benefited from the Grand Coulee Communist Dam and the socialist Col. Basin Irrigation project to start up their farm, but perhaps he also believes there is a conspiracy involving something in the ‘gubmint’ water that affects memory or he is just being selective:
“Government is not a provider. It’s a predator,” he said.
Clint must be gainfully desperate or just what has become the hip hopcracy of the GOP to take what is clearly a government job in which he can use it as a platform to bash the ‘evils’ of it while accepting a paycheck as a “predator”. But that’s “one example”.
I guess Marsha Croakley won’t help you too much going forward…
GET USED TO IT !!!!!!!!!
GET USED TO IT !!!!!!!
CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN !!!!
Anybody know where Hector is???
I think he’ll owe me 500 bucks in November………
HECTOR>>>>>>>>>>>>WHERE ARE YOU????
1 seat out of 100 Neal, not even a normal election cycle. Is it possible for you to actually comment without the effects of Hillbilly Heroin?
Can you say FILIBUSTER? It only takes 1 seat (Scott Brown’s) to make the democrats lose their “super majority”.
This is a historical election, he won a seat that has been held by democrats for almost 50 years. We won and you lost…get used to it, there’s more to come in 2010.
someday soon!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Looks like the “shrinking” democrat party, now!
No filibuster needed as having the House vote on the health care bill senators passed last month, which would make a Senate vote on a conference bill unnecessary.
What say you on Didier or you feel he’s irrelevant?
The current health care bill has a long way to go, and the House may not be willing to pass the bill with no changes…there is talk of scraping it and starting over…
what IS irrelevant is Obama, even HE could not help Martha Coakley win a seat held by the democrats for almost 50 years.
Brown has to face the voters in 2½ years. Didier can’t even define what his role in government is.
Joe Biden could not define HIS role as VP, so does that automatically disqualify him to serve?
I do not know anything about Didier, but if Biden can be VP…Didier can at least run for what ever position he chooses, it will be up to the “people” to decide if he “serves” or not.
Yes, just as it was up to the people to chose Biden, who undoubtedly knows full well who our troops are fighting in Iraq. He can name what magazines and newspapers he reads without hesitation, because those are not tough questions for him.
Palin and Didier; both unqualified for the positions they seek.
The same Biden who held closed meetings on transparency??
The Chicago machine doesn’t care what the people want, as evidenced by polls showing a vast minority supporting their position on health care.
Your party is leaking oil at a high rate of speed.
How pissed must Massachusetts Democrat voters be, to vote in a Republican to a seat held for 50 (FIFTY) years by democrats.
Nice downplay, keep up the front of hate and attack it is working so well for you.
You may be right about Didier he could be just as big a tool as Murray is. Tool sorry I meant fool
For Senators to tie themselves in knots with self-made rules is inexplicable unless the Senate majority already favors Didier’s no government is good ideology. Can we start a movement to demand new rules? Keep the filibuster as a way to continue debate, but also limit it’s use and duration so as to allow an eventual vote. On the first day of the next session it only takes 51 votes to change the rules. Once the body has adopted the rules, a change requires 67 votes.
The last I saw there were five or six people interested in running for Senate. Is Didier the only one who has backing and strength in Central Washington?
Among whatever other reasons they had for electing the business first candidate, Massachusetts voters were convinced that the health bills in Congress would cost them more and reduce their benefits. They have a health insurance exchange and universal health coverage that is generally liked and they might prefer not to change it.
Eleanor….now you want to change the rules???
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, as Ms. Gregoire wants the Washington Legislature to do the same thing to bail her out of her own overspending spree.
And Massachusetts health care? May be OK, but it sure is expensive…
Here’s a headline from the Boston Globe:
The Boston Globe
“Bay State health insurance premiums highest in country
Rein in health costs, Massachusetts urged”
Pssst….the rest of the country doesn’t favor the health bill either. What’s the excuse there?
Adoption of rules is the first item to be considered at all major political meetings. SOP
drew you know nothing…the people did not choose Biden for VP…Obama did!
As for the books that Biden reads…maybe one of them is Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals
Obama and Biden are both unqualified for the positions they hold, just ask the MAJORITY of Americans…only 39% say they would vote for them again if they could do it over.
Nobody (libs especially) wants to change the rules, Eleanor…NOBODY wants this bill to pass. It would cost too many Dimmocrats their jobs.
We’ve seen that already.
Jason, they ran as a ticket. The people selected both in Nov.
Streeeter…you know all about elections….wanna bet on next November??
HAHAHAHAHA
I knew ya didn’t..
And now only 39% would make the same mistake again!!! HAHAHA
Thanks for not offering the source of your 39%.
One of the reasons Obama was elected is because he selected Biden, and the people obviously liked both of them. McCain, whose poll numbers were marginal at best during the campaign, had his running mate selected for him by your party, and it is considered by most political science observers to be the most detrimental thing to happen to his campaign.
Like most cons today, Didier claims to hate big government, but fails to remember that he owes most of his business success to that very same government.
“Owes most of his business success”???
Because his family farm got irrigation water from a dam?
That’s as stupid as saying a long haul trucker “owes most of his business success” to the government because of the interstate highways.
Typical socialist manifesto mantra.
drew,
here’s the source you want… http://hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com/archives/2010/01/majority_would.php
drew
Conservatives don’t hate government, but you are right when you say we hate “BIG government”, we don’t like government intrusion in our lives…telling us what we can and cannot eat, or read, hear or what we should or should not believe in. Your party wants to control all aspects of our lives, and we don’t like it. Government never shrinks and that is a problem, the larger it gets, the more control over our lives it has and THAT is what we hate. As Obama said “generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties: [It] says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf.” so he agrees that the Constitution is a list of “negative liberties”, or rights it does not say what government CAN do to us or for us, instead it sets limitations on government, and says what government cannot do to us. What you don’t understand is the “list of negative liberties” (according to Obama) gives US power, over the government, instead of the government having power over us, this is what has made this country the best in the world, the land of opportunity, that is why people from all over the world flock to this country. The government did not make Didier successful, he did that himself despite the help or lack of help from the government…that is what everyone can do, make the best of what they have and despite the obstacles come out on top. Government does not produce anything, it does not produce wealth, instead it taxes and takes from us, so Didier does not owe his success to “big government”, non of us “owe” anything to “big government” except our fair share of taxes.
Didier didn’t “take” irrigation water then- it must’ve just spilled over onto his land by accident, and he used it. Water maintained and provided to him because of one of the many, many successful programs initiated by FDR. And those are programs that have helped millions and millions of Americans live a better life. Didier is one of them, and so are you. I am too, but I am very grateful that those government programs were put in place so many years ago. So was my dad, a staunch republican, who worked in civil service to agencies like the USACE, Bureau of Reclamation, and the BPA. He knew that this country would be a semi-desert wasteland if several government agencies hadn’t worked together to create what we all enjoy (and you cons take for granted) every day.
Sorry, but the national journal isn’t the source I want. What makes you think I would use a “source” that far to the extreme right?
What makes me think that you would use a source that I provide for you? Maybe the same expectation that you have of me to use the sources that you provide by the extreme left.
And you are right Didier did not “take” irrigation water…he probably paid for it like the rest of us.
I should hope he paid for it, like the rest of us. That’s the point. Cons like to rail against all government, even as they are personally enjoying it’s services and benefits. Sarah Palin likes to uses euphemisms like “socialism”, as if she understands what socialism really is. As the temporary governor of Alaska, she wouldn’t have dared suggest ending the monies given to every state citizen there from oil company profits, because her conservative supporters love that annual payment as much as anyone. But by her definition, that program is a socialist entitlement, and must be ended before her subjects become too dependent.
Didier grows alfalfa with water from a federally-funded agency, and he knows just like you do that there would be no alternative that is cost-effective for supplying water. Cons don’t hate government services- they just don’t like paying for anything they get.
Lets talk about tax evaders (since you brought it up). All we have to do is look at the Obama administration for guidance, at least 50 of them have not even filed their taxes. To me it sounds like THEY are the ones that like the services, but don’t like paying for anything they get.
There aren’t “at least 50 of them”, except in your mind maybe. Since you didn’t go into detail, you should know that the filing date is quite a ways off.
Didier is the topic, and he (like you) uses government services, and couldn’t operate without them, yet part of his platform is his issues with the growth of government. Like all cons, he is only interested in cutting services to the poor, while making sure the agencies that serve him and large corporations continue to grow.
I just took in a couple of clips of Didier, one of him cuddling up to Palin, and the other of him quoting Glenn “crocodile tears” Beck. His campaign may dry up faster than his crops if he were to stop using that socialized gub’mint water.
This is a partial list of “tax cheats” that work in the White House, there are approximately 160 to 180 more waiting confirmation, not all of them have tax issues, but the partial list here ARE tax evaders or cheats (not from the current year, from past years)
Charles Rangle
Al Franken
Scott Murphy
Tim Geithner
Tom Daschle
Nancy Killefer
Bill Richardson
Hilda Solis
Susan Tierney
Jane Garvey
Gary Locke
Annette Nazareth
Caroline Atkinson
Dr. Sanjay Gupta
Ron Kirk
Max Baucus
Capricia Marshall
OK, we thought you were certain you had located 50 in the current Administration. That is what you said. 50. In this administration. Because they hadn’t yet filed. Most Americans don’t file until the last week of March.
Like your hero Joseph McCarthy, you got nothing.
By the way, what did Halliburton pay in taxes for the years that Cheney was at the helm? I know. And it makes Cheney a tax cheat.
Just scratchin’the surface here on the number of cons who think jason should be payin’ their taxes:
Randy Duke Cunningham
James A. Ortenzio; GOP leader of Manhattan
Robert Beale; founder of Minnesota Christian Coalition, delegate to national Republican convention
Robert Stears
found ya 10 senators…
Corker (R-TN)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Crapo (R-ID)
Ensign (R-NV)
Graham (R-SC)
Gregg (R-NH)
Hatch (R-UT)
Shelby (R-AL)
Snowe (R-ME)
Voinovich (R-OH)
and one fake plumber, Samuel J. Wurzelbacher
…of course, you can’t do this without the help of a republicon president.
This from the Nation magazine in 2006:
At the same time President Bush preaches that no child be left behind, he is proposing the biggest cut in federal aid to education, continues to press for huge tax cuts for the superrich and, by undermining the IRS, is encouraging tax avoidance and cheating to the tune of $345 billion a year. His and the Republican Congress’s “cut and cheat” tax policies are detrimental to almost all domestic programs–but especially education. This is doubly offensive to the vast majority of Americans who believe that all citizens should pay their fair share of taxes and that providing an educational opportunity to all children is an important American value and crucial to the future of our country.
It’s important to know whose side they’re on…
Awww, how sweet…a happy ending.
“Pennsylvania Republican Senate
majority leader, F. Joseph Loeper
Jr., pleaded guilty to a criminal
charge of obstructing an IRS
investigation related to his work for a
tax-collection firm owned by Nicholas
Panarella Jr. Loeper falsified
tax-related documents to conceal
more than $330,000 in income he
received while serving in the Senate. He served 6 months in prison and is
currently a successful lobbyist representing both the Pennsylvania
Trial Lawyers”
jason, were you about to tell us that Didier is also a tax cheat? I was just wondering why you brought up politicians who may have violated tax law on a blog about what a totally unqualified replacement candidate Clint Didier is for U.S. Senator.
Sam Wyly believes that “ya dance with them that brung ya”. Sam’s a Texas money man for the Bush family, and his efforts are well rewarded within the GOP today. Rewarded in more ways than one.
first, I DID say it was a partial list…second, I am not talking about the current tax year, some of them have 14 years of back taxes to pay. 14 years!!! They want us to pay more, after all according to V.P. Biden it is the patriotic thing to do…to pay taxes! I guess that means many in Obama’s administration are not patriotic!?!
As far as MY beliefs in the tax code, I have stated in previous posts, that I am in support of a “flat tax”, or a “fair tax” everyone pays, no exceptions, the rich could not hide behind “loopholes” and the poor would “have some skin in the game” Corporations would pay, with no exceptions.
The Nation Magazine…HAHAHA
What makes you think I would use or even trust a source that far to the extreme left?
What’s wrong drew, you found ten senators, then listed them twice (probably to make it look twice as impressive) sorry drew, but you sir, are the one that has nothing. Who is your hero…Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin?
drew you brought up the tax issue, not me, you claimed that “Cons don’t hate government services- they just don’t like paying for anything they get.” All I did was point out that you are wrong, as usual, by stating how many demacant’s don’t pay their taxes, while demanding we pay more…do they not benefit from our tax dollars? They just don’t like to pay for it!
As for the 10 senator’s, it double pasted. When I saw the mistake, I corrected it, over an hour ago. Try to keep up.
So you have no problem paying more in taxes? Your a supporter of Forbes flat tax, aren’t you? Wow, I am amazed and humbled by your generosity. His “fair tax” really means the wealthy pay less than they are now, and the poor pay more. But it’s not just about the percentages- take $330 away from a single mom who struggles to put gas in the car to get to her minimum wage job, and you’ve added signifcantly to her struggle. She may not even be able to get to that job because of your regressive new tax code, and that hurts the economy. Do you think Loeper would have been worried about a low-paying jobette, or how he would pay for a doctor’s visit, if he didn’t hide the $330k in income?
So, I’ll ask you again: what does this have to do with Didier?
What does this have to do with Didier?…Well lets see, I guess it has as much to do with him as “who our troops are fighting in Iraq” or what magazines and newspapers Biden can name that he reads, without hesitation…
Can you name the magazines you read? Do you know who we’re fighting in Iraq? If so, go down to the local GOP office right now, jason, and tell them you want to be nominated for VP. Hurry, before you’re Party of No makes another stupid pick.
Didier is a hypocrite when he makes the generalization that our government is “predatory”, while clearly benefiting from many of its services. But, just like Palin, he’s sorely uninformed when he says that Hanford workers are oppressed government employees. Perhaps the internet in Eltopia is down (like since the 90s). Maybe his subscription to the TCH was stopped (back when they switched from parchment)- the majority of Area jobs are private, and have been for many years. Didier, or any competent candidate, would have known that. We know that Patty Murray knows the facts on Hanford employment. I’ll bet she knows more about the history of the New Deal too, and the actual proven ways that our part of the country benefits every day from the government.
jason, I am really sorry I brought up the whole thing about Palin being your pick, in spite of the fact that she was a complete dolt when it came to foreign policy and current affairs. I realize now that it’s really embarrassing when we remind you of how she gets stumped on really simple 8th grade questions, or how she cant’ stick to a job, or how she quit college several times (sorry, but “weather”, and “too many locals” are not sufficient reasons). I’ll make a serious effort not to bring it up again about she was the unexpected “stimulus package” for the struggling stand-up comedy industry, or how foreign newspapers actually said “Hard to believe but true: America CAN do worse than Bush” under Palin’s pic. I’ll work hard to not mention all of that really embarrassing stuff again.
