The Party of “NO” showed its disgusting face tonight in front of the nation and world as extreme partisans opposing ANY success for this President – even when it reflects acknowledgement and support for some Republican positions past and present. It is like they all took something to make them look like zombies -
“The Republican lawmakers in attendance sat on their hands while the president discussed policy provisions that, ostensibly, are very much in their philosophical wheelhouse. When Republicans didn’t even applaud on behalf of his tax cuts, Obama pointed to the GOP side of the chamber and expressed surprise: “I thought I’d get some applause on that one,” he said. ” so much for thinking of country first – a disgusting display of absurd partisanship. Comments???
While Samuel Alito shook his head and muttered “not true” Alito during confirmation claimed he wouldn’t use the bench to politic. Justice Alito, “you lie”
mainstreeter
Obama lied, Alito responded to the lie that Obama told…
The Supreme Court did not touch the laws that pertain to foreign nationals or corporations, this remains unchanged… the law bans campaign money from foreign nationals/corporations to fund federal, state, or local elections, political party committees, and electioneering communication (ads).
definition: Foreign Principal
partnership, assoc. corporation, or organization under the laws of a foreign country; principal place of business outside of the U.S.
Obama’s State of the Union Address was nothing more than a lecture to all who disagree with his policies and agenda. Republicans were not clapping at Obama’s speech because he did not move to the middle, instead he is doubling down on his agenda and continues to govern the country from the far left. The “tax cuts” that you mentioned are extremely targeted and will not benefit the majority of Americans. Republicans want a wide sweeping array of tax cuts, a continuation of the Bush tax cuts, or something similar, but that is not what the American people got. Obama criticized the Supreme Court…he needs to respect the separation of powers…he should not have tried to intimidate the supreme court in front of millions of people, he is walking a fine line of using the Executive branch and Legislative branch to gain supreme power over Judicial powers. There was not much to clap about in his speech, since it was so partisan.
Why is it Obama’s responsibility to come to the middle?? Was that Bush’s responsibility too?? Were none of his speeches partisan???
come on, Jason, you didnt watch last night did you? Those are all Fox News talking points from this morning.
The National Journal reported today that corporate lobbyists representing foreign corporations are already organizing to defeat such a proposal (offered by Alan Grayson, Chris Van Hollen and Chuck Schumer ). The Organization for International Investment, a trade group representing foreign banks, oil companies, and other foreign corporations operating in the United States, “lashed out” at Van Hollen’s proposals. “The concern over foreign influence in our political system is a red herring,” said Nancy McLernon, the head of OFII.
McLernon — who previously worked for Citizens for a Sound Economy, a stealth “grassroots” corporate lobbying group now known as Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks — is wrong to assert that the danger of foreign lobbying is simply a distraction.
McLernon makes his living by selling out Americans so that multi-national corporations can have their will even when it is not in America’s interests.
I call that treason, but Neo-Cons call it freedom. The better to eat you with.
Rob Jordan, vice president for federal and state campaigns at the conservative FreedomWorks, said his Washington-based group could reap particular benefits from a portion of the ruling that threw out restrictions on running political ads in the weeks leading up to an election.
“We expect to have upside potential in the multimillions, and we expect to be major players,” Jordan said of his group’s plans for the midterms. “This will probably put ads on our radar screen more than they would have been.”
If you love our American sovereignty, if you value America’s independence, if you are not a blatant sellout of the American people who seeks to make a profit by selling our independence to the highest foreign bidder, you must oppose this massive betrayal of America’s interests. Of course, if you couldn’t care less about the Citizens United ruling, if you are unaware of the cozy relationship between Saudi Oil interests and American politicians, or if you are more worried about immigrants invading our country for slave wage jobs than you are about America’s potential enemies subverting our independent nation, you are probably a Republican.
Good thing our media is still independent. I mean, wouldn’t it be awful if foreign interests started to misinform Americans about what is in their best interests?
Oh yeah, I forgot, a Australian billionaire and a Saudi Prince already did that.
The speech was excellent. I enjoyed it, Alito did too, it gave him enough acid to stomach a fatty steak dinner last night.
Pay-Go was reinstated today in Congress without a single Republican vote in the Senate. How cynical is it to mouth fiscal restraint but not intend to pay up front? Remember the party of no was the party of borrow first.
They supported pay-as-you go under Bushler, this shows how out of touch the GOP is. They are not working for the good of the country.
Was this the first State of the Union address y’all have watched? These comments would make it seem so.
This message approved by Barack Hussein al-O’Bama.
One of the best, Neal. Today’s Q&A was excellent too.
I assume Hector won’t try to borrow money from you, Streeter?
Did you run out of substance again, Neal?
Corie
I watched the speech twice and took notes as Obama spoke. Very much of what he said was misinformation and flat out lies. Foreign corporations will be under the same political finance laws that have been in place for decades, the U.S. Supreme court DID NOT change that part of the law…I quoted the law to you already, so I will not do it again.
It is the responsibility of every President to govern from the middle, or at the very least include the minority party in negotiations, instead Obama wants to continue his partisan ways and govern from the far left. Obama talks a good game, but his actions do not back up his words.
The problem with Obama’s version of “pay as you go” is that instead of keeping government small, and making cuts in government bureaucracy, Obama will raise taxes so support the extra spending. There is no fiscal restraint in Obama’s version…just more taxes to pay for his agenda (that more and more Americans are unhappy with).
“The party of borrow first”? come on we all know that the democrats already own that title. Obama and the democrats just raised the debt limit to 14.3 TRILLION dollars!! They need to borrow more money!
Using the State of the Union Address to try to intimidate an equal, but separate branch of the government is not just inappropriate, but it is disrespectful, and I believe he owes the U.S. Supreme Court Justices an apology.
Actually, Streeter, it would be difficult to have less substance than the subject of this blog. Does Gizmo really believe that the party not in power in the White House, not applauding the president, is news????
Personally, I think they showed great restraint not booing at all the BS that was presented. But then, that’s the bailiwick of Dimmocrats.

Gizmo, the party of no has drawn a line in the sand, and their obedient followers dare not ask legitimate questions, nor attempt any critical thinking on their own (Fixed News should change their motto to, “We distort, and you republican suck-ups should just shut up and follow our lead”). The republican’ts don not care any more about bipartisanship than they do about their millions of gullible middle-class supporters, who blindly and obediently support the same GOP efforts that suppress their freedoms and liberties. Ironic but sadly true. Republicans today want this President (our President) to fail in every aspect. They have no concerns at all if it destroys the nation in the process.
Drew, I think you are right on… I do believe they care less for the well being of the nation as a whole than they care for their hold on power and getting their way – which has not worked up to now after the last 8 years.
Good question – if what they hold dear as solid principles then why were they not processed during the last 8 years?? I too think they are so fixated on not letting this President have any success with anything that they will stiffle their own party generated ideas IF incorporated by the President, just to assure he does not succeed – especially where they failed. It is so sad. and yes when the republicans have the presidency the applause is sparse when he speaks but it is not the total rejection of everything, sitting like stoned zombies incapable of finding anything at all to express agreement or support. Sad.
