Today, the Flat Earthers de facto leader, Pills “Lester Maddox” Limbaugh was boasting on the radio today how the disaster in Haiti is being used as a contrived event by the Obama administration :

But the pig man wasn’t finished yet. He then went on to claim how the links to the Whitehouse.gov website for people to donate to the Red Cross, something other websites have also linked to, was somehow a conspiracy to collect the names of people and pocket their money even though there is no provision to collect money on the WH site.

LIMBAUGH: Besides, we’ve already donated to Haiti. It’s called the U.S. income tax.

And when he came out after those three days, he was clearly irritated that he had to do it. He didn’t want to do it. He comes out here in less than 24 hours to speak about Haiti.
The problem with Missouri Fats rant is unlike Bush, who waited 6 days to address the shoe bomber, Richard Reid, our President met with top level cabinet people to address the attempt and enact new procedures in 3 days.
Both events happened while each president was on vacation during the Christmas break.
We all recall Bushler’s response to Katrina, 4 days. All the while he flew to John McCain’s birthday party with a cake (remember the plastic turkey he showed up with in Iraq?) and strummed a guitar before that for a fund raiser in San Diego. 4 days in America. President Obama’s response was within hours which sent Pills into the above apoplexy. But all of Rush’ tirades are about one upping the previous show.
Rush didn’t help the conservative movement by bouncing around in his studio mocking Michael J Fox by claiming Fox was ‘faking’ his Parkinson’s by not taking his medicine.
The right claims he is either merely an entertainer or ‘more intelligent’ than anyone out there. He is out there. His all but racist, dark heart proves so. He isn’t going to help the ‘dark skinned’ people as he has already paid ‘his taxes’.
And even more upsetting is the comment today by Pat Robertson, who claims that Haitians brought this earthquake on themselves due to making a deal with the devil.
Both men place more importance on bringing attention to themselves than to mourn the plight of the tens of thousands, or more, who have died because of this earthquake.
Politics shouldn’t be an issue when it comes to the disaster in Haiti. But this piece of filth Limbaugh ran out of material and went on a oxy filled binge today. Him and Pat Robertson are scum.

I’ll take issue with the statement that Bush took 4 days to respond to Katrina- it was actually well over a week, when you count that the forecasts for the hurricane’s strength and destructive capability when it was still 96 hours offshore were the most severe that meteorologists and hurricane experts had ever seen for a storm crossing the Gulf. They were sending warnings to several government agencies, well in advance, asserting that supplies and disaster response units should be mobilized close to the Gulf Coast to limit their response time, and these warnings were ignored by Bush and Chertoff.
You two do a dandy job of living in the past. Unfortunately, that does nothing to solve the problems of today.

If I was a supporter of McCain/Palin, that would have been a classic example of “living in the past”, since their regressive ideals would have kept us in an era of Cheney/Bush thinking. America has shown by a clear majority that we are done with that. Step 1 of moving America forward was when the voters chose Obama/Biden to help us pull this nation out of this huge GOP sinkhole. Step 2 is ongoing, and it involves every American keeping all of our politicians focused on recovery. You either take that seriously by contributing to the discussion at hand, or you don’t by putting up distractions.
And the politics of the right wing just like the politics behind the Haitian disaster is sub consciously racial. In the case of El Rushbo, it is at the surface.
Despicable and reprehensible are appropriate descriptions of Limbaugh, along with racist. The fact that his listeners, followers and worshipers defend him and his comments is a sad and troubling indicator of how far down they want to drag this society. The authors of the book that told of Harry Reid’s comment are blown away by how it has become such a big thing..THEY anticipated that the “big thing” would be how Reid and other prominent Dems were actively and outwardly recruiting Obama to run because they didn’t want Hillary as the candidate. His comment was made in the context of analyzing the prejudices still rampant in this country..Obama was not “too dark” nor did he have a noticeable black dialect. Pat Robertson is more than just mentally unstable or irrational- he’s a con artist who’s been caught several times funneling money from the collection plates of his many religious groups, money donated by millions of people who could find their money more efficiently spent on their local churches and charities. He’s lost his 501c tax exemption status at least once for printing GOP campaign brochures with church money, and stumping for GOP candidates under the banner of groups like his 700 Club. He was also exposed as the fraudster he truly is when he took millions from those same parishioners to fund his diamond mining operation in the Congo. Robertson has named the Bank of Scotland as “an agent of the devil” in one of his books, yet he was named to their board of directors in the 90′s, because of his marketing skills with his “evangelical enterprises”.
I heard on Ron Reagan’s show that the other night, MSNBC devoted a little over 2 hours during their three prime time shows (Hardball, Countdown, and the Rachel Maddow Show) to the disaster in Haiti, including lots of references made to multiple charities and organizations to donate to if you want to help. In stark contrast, Faux News, during the exact same time period, committed a not-so-grand total of exactly 6 minutes and 41 seconds to the crisis.

Did you know that there is more than one way to donate, and more than one organization to donate to? With high-speed internet, we are actually able to donate to multiple groups at once, all with the nearly instant click of your mouse. It’s true. You really need to step out of the stone age. Because Al Gore was able to appropriate the money for the DoD to plant the seeds for today’s modern internet, these things are possible.
