You ought to know that the Yakima Herald Republic deletes portions of articles printed under an AP byline. I imagine the editors will claim a shortage of space. That is no justification for leaving out extremely crucial paragraphs.
In today’s paper the Curt Woodward article on page 6C was shortened. The part that was cut described the last minute addition of $600k to the 2003 capital construction budget for a dock and some other park features at Lake Sammamish Park. Sammamish is Rossi’s home town.
On May 25, an AP article written by Shannon Dinniny and titled “Upgrades under way at Columbia River dams” was edited to remove vital information. YHR took out the interview with Michael Garrity, Washington Director of American Rivers, in which he supports the installation of new turbines and states that there are no issues about any of the dams on the Columbia River. Practically everybody around here has heard Doc Hastings warn and scare his constituents about our hydroelectric dams. The Herald has an obligation to present a balanced point of view, especially when Hastings goes too far.
The next time that Michael Garrity visits Yakima, as he does practically every month, the Herald owes it to balanced reporting to get an interview.
Excellent article…..they are entitled to their own opinion but not entitled to their own facts.
Well, ya have to look at who owns the YHR…not exactly an unbiased media source by any means. Jefferson would be ashamed.
