STOP No-Background-Check Gun Shows…Prevent felons, domestics violence offenders, drug traffickers, stalkers, unstable persons from purchasing guns and ammunition at No-Background-Check gun shows. These people, who call themselves collectors, do an end run around Background Check laws. Have no doubt, they are gun merchants. Blood is on our streets, and shootings are happening in Yakima nearly every day. Let’s close this door to “illegal” gun sales. There are nine legal and licensed gun dealers in Yakima. Rise up and say no to NBC gun shows. Whoop

I have always agreed with you on this, Whoop…
Yes,I think it would be best also.
Maybe guns should be treated like motor vehicles with titles and such , with a fired
round , in good identifiable condition , along with the shell casing with firing pin indentation , from each weapon on file in a data base.
Or is that too far out…
Neal and LD fan…thank you for your support. I agree that before a weapon is sold, its shell casing marks, and ballistic imprint should be on file just like fingerprints. This and BG checks would put an end to a lot of random, for the thrill, violence-seeking murders. Mayors Against Gun Violence (maybe the wrong name) are converging on Congress with the petition signature sheets indicating that end-run No Background Gun Laws must come to an end. And the reason they have not–Congress is being peppered with bundles and baskets of gun-lobby money. I have asked this city council, and the state legislature to end NBC gun shows and they have both sent me packing. How irrefutably irresponsible of people who could fix it and won’t because they are afraid of the gun lobby. Their courage is smothered in fear about voting time.

Yep———-best government money can buy,,,,,,,,,,in ALL things they do……..
To say how effective our latest N0-Background-Check gun show protest (Sunday, November 13th) worked out is difficult. For one, to be completely candid, our signed messages were mixed. Only one of the eight or so signs held by our group said “Close the Gun Show Loophole, and frankly that was the main reason we were there. There were signs saying “Stop Violence in Yakima,” ” Cut the Military and save Social Security and Medicare.”
As he has done before, the owner came and thanked us for giving his biz a push–and it is a business–a group of merchants posing as collectors as a doorway into legal sales by way of the gun show loophole, all without the requirement for a Background Check–just show the money. This is thumbing his and his cronie’s noses at the legal requirement for a background check, but also thumbing his nose at the nine legal and licensed gun dealers in Yakima. The prices are high, and the guns are of all gauges and calibers. Ammunition for each is sold right there. The distinction between sportsmen and target shooters and collectors must be made. We have no quarrel with “gun” people. We do have a quarrel with disingenuous charlatans who sneak around the law with no regard for citizen safety, which is what background checks are about. The Senate is hearing Bloomberg’s speech today–let’s pray it hits pay dirt.
