There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt

(you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.”

Andrew Brietbart, the self described journalist and enabler of the sleepy-dog press has assassinated yet another one of his targets, with the help of the White House and the organization created to protect the rights of the person involved. Our pinko commie friends at Blatherwatch are discussing this too

Shirley Sherrod, a black USDA official, who resigned after being quoted out of context from a video 25 years ago in which she related how her father was killed by a Klansman and her journey to appreciate the plight of the human race. In Brietbart’s cut and paste, he took parts of the video in which he played “angry white farmer” and sold this idea to Faux News which in turn the rest of the “media” also bought into the crime on the cheap as FOX had done the pick and shovel work and why question a salacious story, indeed.

“Negrophobia” is what Eugene Robinson of the Wa Post was just quoted on the Rachel Maddow show tonight, catch it if you can or go to the MSNBC site and download today’s (WED July 21) show. It hearkens back to the time before ACORN and even Willie Horton. George Wallace, the most iconic of segregationist politicians had a comic book published during the 60′s of the evils of ‘gubmint’ intervention and a general freak-out over the south losing the ability of keeping the boot on the neck of the black man forever.

The Southern Strategy was a new tool for the GOP during the 60′s when it appeared the democratic rule after 100 years of anti republican voting as a result of reconstruction after the “Waor of Northern Ahhgression” were on a collision course in light of the 1964 and 65′ Civil Rights bills and other Johnson policies that would put the Dixiecrat’s to either defend the administration or adopt the new republican game plan of making white America afraid of black people.

You have to give the GOP and the Conservative movement credit for something that works 45 years later while the left wanted to be the ones who would be the first to throw Ms Sherrod under the bus while forgetting who it was that shot from the grassy knoll and while Sec Vilsak has apologized, FOX is now running the story on how bad the White House has treated Sherrod and are shocked, shocked I say that someone other than Fox didn’t research the story first.

It may be too late for Sherrod’s reinstatement as she probably doesn’t want the job in a environment where the administration takes orders from the likes of Breitbart, who has operatives dressing up as pimps and misrepresenting themselves to wiretap senator’s offices. And while the NAACP was also quick to throw Sherrod under, they are also under attack from the likes of fellow Breitbart’s supporters, the so-called Tea Party who haven’t gotten over 1965.

November could be ugly unless the President sets the tone and denounces these bastards. Remember the “Beer Summit” and the Cambridge cop? Remember how it fizzled out a few days later? We need the old Obama back when he had the ability to think on his feet.

As the historic legislation on health care reform was passed, we find out a local person has been charged for making threats against Sen Patty Murray.

By Associated Press

A Yakima man has been charged with threatening to kill Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., over her support for health care reform.

Court documents say federal agents arrested Charles Alan Wilson in Yakima on Tuesday.

An FBI agent’s probable cause statement says Murray’s office in Seattle reported the threats, which were left on voice mail from a blocked telephone number. Agents say they traced the calls to Wilson’s home in Selah, near Yakima.

Murray’s office told the FBI that it had been receiving harassing messages from the caller for months, but they became more threatening as Congress was voting on health care legislation.

Excerpts of the expletive-laced messages transcribed in court documents show the caller saying he wanted to kill the senator, and it would just take one piece of lead.

Self proclaimed brick thrower (he really is one) Mike Vanderboegh, former leader of the “Alabama Militia” is advocating the destruction of democratic headquarters across the nation on his blog in response to…the health care reform bill just passed in the house over the weekend. He has already taken credit for smashed windows at central democratic headquarters in Kansas, New York and Arizona.

I don’t recall another bill that drove right wingers crazy to resort to terrorist like attacks on party headquarters. The GOP claims they will regain the popular vote later on this year due to ‘voter outrage’ over the passage of the health care reform act and essentially what amounts to a black man as president, given the poster and slogan campaign, in which the GOP has outsourced to the tea baggers and other afflicted members. God help the GOP if anyone is killed by these out of control lunatics for the right could do the ‘right’ thing and lay the whip to these neophytes before the gop becomes the party of nothing and against everything

While the city mulls over barista’s and red light cameras, the fourth person to die in Yakima gang violence this year, the second in the past 8 days, has occurred. Depending on your source of media, its just another murder in Yakima, or tv news such as KNDO which has done a fair job, regardless of the “if it bleeds, it leads” type of reporting. If you ask what the city council is doing, lets go back to 2009.

Back then, Sonia Rodriquez asked for and got additional monies for police overtime in spite of her opponent calling it a ‘cheap shot’. Even Micah Cawley said back in August, ” we’re dealing with a crisis situation with gang violence”. Rick Ensey wasn’t as concerned, “I think we have to be careful about overreacting here”. Cawley however had no plan, opposing ‘throwing more money” at the problem. Candidate and retired RN, Mary Place had an idea to use cell phones, anonymously to report to police gang activity. Back when Place served as Mayor, she saw neighborhood development money used to clean up graffiti and run down houses.

Cawley conceded last summer in an interview with the Herald Republic, that Place had more experience, “But I didn’t think that’s what Yakima was looking for when I was (first) elected, I think the people weren’t happy with the way Yakima was heading.”

Where are you headed Micah, and the rest of the council?

At what point is one too many? More than last year, which is where Yakima and the rest of the valley is heading. Until it spills over to Yakima Avenue when patrons of the hotels and conventions no longer feel secure as it’s not happening on “the wrong side” of town anymore? Cities like Stockton, Compton, Baltimore have long had the stigma of communities with gang violence that has forever tarnished what was considered manageable a couple of decades ago. Does a city of 90,000 have to wait to become an urban icon of someones song or documentary before it’s decided it’s too small to fail?

Today, in an hoped for interview with ABC news, Sen. Jim Bunning R (KY), rejected a question from a reporter when asked why he opposed extending unemployment benefits, including those in his home state.

Bunning, who is not running for reelection and apparently without the blessing of the GOP , who along with Mitch McConnell are holding up the vote by procedure unless their buddy, Sen.Northrop Grumman-Shelby and Alabama receives an entitlement of the Air Force tanker deal involving Northrop-Grumman, a subsidiary of French manufacturer, AirBus. Since then, this foriegn outsourcing has sent lawmakers scrambling for cover. Boeing lost the bid last year and has since appealed and for now, the contract to construct the new generation of Air Force tankers is still being negotiated. They are also holding up the appointment of top intelligence members since December, by blocking their votes on the floor.

Senate Majority leader, Harry Reid asked for unanimous consent to move forward with the bill on Monday.

“Six times last week, Democrats asked to extend their unemployment benefits for a short time while they work on a longer extension,” Reid said. “Six times, Republicans said no. They didn’t just say no to us, that is members of the Senate. They said no to their families in their own states and all our states count on us to act when we need action. They count on us to respond in the event of an emergency. This is an emergency. The Republicans in the Senate are standing between these families and the help they need while these benefits expire and expired.”

After Reid spoke, Bunning raised his objection and blamed the Democrats for failing to extend benefits with an earlier bill that Reid scrapped. He repeated his insistence that the Senate not add an additional $10 billion to the deficit.

“Just a brief explanation of why we are where we’re at with this extension bill, the brief extension of 30 days,” said Bunning, who is not running for reelection and apparently not acting with the blessing of GOP leadership. “There was an agreement between the majority leader of the Finance Committee and the minority leader in the Finance Committee, Sens. Baucus and Grassley, on a three-month extension of these very same provisions. There were more provisions in the bill also. It cost a little more than the the $10 billion that is asked for because it was a three-month extension. Senator Reid pulled that bill from the floor of the U.S. Senate. He did it. The leader of the Democrats pulled that bill from the floor. I support extending unemployment benefits, COBRA benefits, flood insurance, highway bill fix, doc fix, small business loans, distant network television for satellite viewers. If we can’t find $10 billion to pay for something that we all support, we will never pay for anything on the floor of this U.S. Senate.”

“Excuse me, this is a Senate-only elevator,” he said. “Excuse me!” as the reporter asked him why he objected to the unemployment extension.

An ABC producer said the senator flipped him off as the elevator door was closing.

Earlier, Sen Jeff Merkley from Oregon asked Bunning to drop the objection to which Bunning replied, “tough shit”.

Today, 400,000 people lost their extension for unemployment benefits, rural satellite television was lost to 1 million people whose subsidy was available to areas that have no, over the air tv or cable service. (including Kentucky) 2,000 highway construction workers whose jobs were depending on the extension of stimulus dollars are not working. Cobra insurance benefits are being held up as well. Doctors who depend on Medicare reimbursement, just saw a 21% drop in payments as well with these extensions held up.

You stay classy GOP.

“Last Friday night, my father asked me to kill him.”

Keith Olbermann opened his emotional Special Comment on health care Wednesday with the story of his father’s six-month-long hospitalization suffering through a colon removal, pneumonia, kidney failure, liver failure, and many infections.

After a particularly difficult week, Olbermann said he went into his father’s hospital room to find him “thrashing his head back and forth” and mouthing the word “Help.”

“It was just too much for my father,” Olbermann said. “‘Stop this,’ he mouths. ‘Stop, stop, stop.’”

Olbermann said he resorted to gallows humor, asking his father, “What, you want me to smother you with a pillow?” And his father responded, mouthing, “Yes, kill me.”

“And as I left the hospital that night, the full impact of the last six months washed over me,” Olbermann said. “That conversation, that one, was what these ghouls who are walking into Blair House tomorrow morning called death panels. Your right to have that conversation with a doctor. Not the government, but a doctor. And your right to have insurance pay for his expertise on what your options are when dad says ‘Kill me’ or what your options are when dad is in a coma and can’t tell you a damn thing.”

Olbermann then laid into those who spread fear about death panels.

“That, right now, is the legacy of the protests of these subhumans who get paid by the insurance companies, who say these things for their own political gain, or like that one fiend, for money,” Olbermann said. “Betsy McCaughey told people tht this conversation about life and death and relief and release…she told people that’s a death panel and she did that for money! It’s a life panel. A life panel. It can save the pain of the patient and the family. It’s the difference between you guessing what happens next and you being informed about what probably will. And that’s the difference between you sleeping at night or second-guessing and third-guessing and thirtieth-guessing yourself.”

“It’s a life panel, and damn those who call it otherwise to hell!” he said.

Olbermann closed the comment with news that his father has not awoken since Friday, and that it’s now possible he never recovers.

“So considering that if he does not recover you will not see me here for a while, I have some requests,” he said. “Please, have this conversation with your loved ones. Don’t wait. Do it now. It’s tough. It acknowledges death, and it also narrows the gray area you and they will face from infinity to a foot wide. It is my greatest comfort right now and I want it to be yours. And to the politicians who go into Blair House tomorrow, for that summit, I have some requests as well. Leave your egos at the door. I want, I demand that you give everybody in this country a chance at the care my father has gotten. And I demand that you enact this most generous and kind aspect of the reform proposed, the right to bill the damned insurance company for the conversation about what to do when the time comes. The life panel.”

Today , just days after the President’s State of the Union address, President Obama went before an unprecedented hour long Q&A before Republican representatives, televised live on many cable news networks (FOX, well they cut out the last 20 mins in favor of…Glenn Beck)

White House officials told the Huffington Post they were absolutely ecstatic. MSNBC’s Luke Russert, who was on the scene in Baltimore, relayed that a Republican official and other GOP aides had confided to him that allowing the “cameras to roll like that” was a “mistake.”

And a mistake it was, for all the claims from the right that Health Care reform was “Bolshevik” to there was little to no coverage of HCR on the tv (Hello? C span carried the gavel to gavel coverage as is their mission) was not what the GOP wanted the rest of us to see.

The dirty tricks squad of right wing politics has been caught again, al la Watergate. James O’Keefe, filmmaker and ACORN hatriot was arrested Monday inside the offices of Sen.Mary Landrieu in downtown New Orleans, along with 3 others. The FBI alleges they were dressed as telephone repairmen to gain access inside the building for the purposes of wiretapping. A felony.

Alleging a plot to wiretap Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu’s office in the Hale Boggs Federal Building in downtown New Orleans, the FBI arrested four people Monday, including James O’Keefe, a conservative filmmaker whose undercover videos at ACORN field offices severely damaged the advocacy group’s credibility.

Also arrested were Joseph Basel, Stan Dai and Robert Flanagan, all 24. Flanagan is the son of William Flanagan, who is the acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana, the office confirmed. All four were charged with entering federal property under false pretenses with the intent of committing a felony.

According to the FBI affidavit, Flanagan and Basel entered the federal building at 500 Poydras Street about 11 a.m. Monday, dressed as telephone company employees, wearing jeans, fluorescent green vests, tool belts, and hard hats. When they arrived at Landrieu’s 10th floor office, O’Keefe was already in the office and had told a staffer he was waiting for someone to arrive.

When Flanagan and Basel entered the office, they told the staffer they were there to fix phone problems. At that time, the staffer, referred to only as Witness 1 in the affadavit, observed O’Keefe positioning his cell phone in his hand to record his co-horts.

After being asked, the staffer gave Basel access to the main phone at the reception desk. The staffer told investigators that Basel manipulated the handset. He also tried to call the main office phone using his cell phone, and said the main line wasn’t working. Flanagan did the same.

They then told the staffer they needed to perform repair work on the main phone system and asked where the telephone closet was located.

Last fall, O’Keefe was hailed as a conservative hero for dressing as a pimp and taping ACORN employees offering advice on how he and a partner could get away with running an international under-age prostitution scheme.

O’Keefe on Thursday gave a speech to the Pelican Institute for Public Policy, a libertarian group in New Orleans.

The New Orleans event was promoted with this glowing statement about O’Keefe by the Pelican Institute: “James has been a pioneer in the use of new media to drive these kinds of important stories. He will discuss the role of new media and show examples of effective investigative reporting.”

Looks like O’Keefe will be looking for a new role in prison, but not as a pimp.

The accusations against ACORN last year pall in comparison to wiretapping a US Senator, most if not all, against the community organization were unfounded. To the victor goes the spoils, but in the case of the flying monkey right, a return to G Gordon Libby, and E Howard Hunt is justified.

In a 5-4 ruling today, the US Supreme Court rolled back what McCain-Feingold had implemented just a couple of decades earlier. Five conservative judges voted as the majority in the decision. This opens the door for a larger role in corporations funding campaign ads.

“Because speech is an essential mechanism of democracy — it is the means to hold officials ac-
countable to the people — political speech must prevail against laws that would suppress it by design or inadvertence,” wrote Justice Anthony Kennedy for the majority.

Which means corporations that wished for personhood not defined in Santa Clara County vs. Southern Pacific just got their wish.

Citizens United vs the Federal Elections Commission(FEC) regarding whether a politically charged film, Hillary: The Movie, could be defined as a campaign ad under the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act, commonly known as the McCain-Feingold Act.

“height of recklessness” wrote the dissenting opinion.

“We are moving to an age where we won’t have the senator from Arkansas or the congressman from North Carolina, but the senator from Wal-Mart and the congressman from Bank of America,” said Melanie Sloan, director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

Sen. Chuck Schumer echoed “The bottom line is this: the Supreme Court has just predetermined the winners of next November’s elections. It won’t be Republicans. It won’t be Democrats. It will be corporate America.”

Citizens United’s so-called goals are:

    * “to reassert the traditional American values of limited government, freedom of enterprise, strong families, and national sovereignty and security.”
* “to restore the founding fathers’ vision of a free nation, guided by the honesty, common sense, and good will of its citizens.”

Funny, I don’t recall the founding fathers wanting corporate control of elections?

Who is Citizen’s United? Bremerton native, Floyd Brown co-founded CU in 1988 along with David Bossie and were responsible for the Willie Horton campaign ads during the 1988 presidential election. He is also an ass.

“CBS Evening News reported that Floyd Brown harassed the family of Susan Coleman, a former law student of Bush’s opponent Bill Clinton. Coleman had committed suicide, and Brown was attempting to investigate a rumor that she had had an affair with Clinton. David Bossie reportedly stalked the family of a suicide victim while working for Brown. In April, 1992, 30 news organizations received “an anonymous and untraceable letter” by fax “claiming Clinton had had an affair with a former law student who committed suicide 15 years ago.” Floyd Brown attempted to investigate any connection between Clinton and the 1977 suicide of this, “emotionally distraught young woman, seven-months pregnant,” Susan Coleman.CBS Evening News, 7/13/92

In an audiotaped phone conversation with Coleman’s sister, the following exchange took place:

Brown: Was she depressed? See, you won’t even answer if she was depressed.
Coleman’s Sister: Because I—
Brown: Was she suicidal?
Coleman’s Sister: Just leave my family alone.
Brown: You’re making it so difficult for me to leave your family out of it.’
CBS Evening News, 7/13/92.

The Bush-Quayle campaign “eventually” filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against Brown, seeking to distance itself from his tactics and calling Brown and his associates “the lowest forms of life”. After they were done with his services, of course.

The hypocrisy of Citizen’s United is further evident in their own complaint in 2005 with the FEC over the movie Fahrenheit 9/11, in which Bossie, who had not yet viewed the film, but stated that the movie violated McCain/Feingold as defined that ‘Moore was using “corporate money” and “foreign money” to pay for his film ads’

The bigger question is, where are all the tea bag party people in all this, including Scott Brown? Shouldn’t they be protesting Corporate america’s take over of elections or are they silently praising a victory while being shuttled around in buses by big pharma and insurance companies.

The majority opinion of the SCOTUS with decisions like this hearken back to Dred Scott, just prior to the Civil War.
