For one, to be completely candid, our signed messages were mixed. Only one of the eight or so signs held by our group said "Close the Gun Show Loophole, and frankly that was the main reason we were there. There were signs saying "Stop Violence in Yakima," " Cut the Military and save Social Security and Medicare." As he has done before, the owner came and thanked us for giving his biz a push--and it is a business--a group of merchants posing as collectors as a doorway into legal sales by way of the gun show loophole, all without the requirement for a Background Check--just show the money. This is thumbing his and his cronie's noses at the legal requirement for a background check, but also thumbing his nose at the nine legal and licensed gun dealers in Yakima. The prices are high, and the guns are of all gauges and calibers. Ammunition for each is sold right there. The distinction between sportsmen and target shooters and collectors must be made. We have no quarrel with "gun" people. We do have a quarrel with disingenuous charlatans who sneak around the law with no regard for citizen safety, which is what background checks are about.
